Maintenance - Rail Routing Code
RAIL1
SCREEN OVERVIEW
The RAIL1 screen is used to maintain a "file" of Rail Routings.
If the Outside Processor (OP) ships items by rail, Rail Routings are required.
The code and description should conform to standard terminology. The
Steel Producer should provide some input on this. The codes entered
here are displayed when the F9 key is used in Material
Transfer. Both the code and description are printed on shipping
papers and both also are part of the EDI data sent back to the
SP at shipment time.
The key for a Rail Routing is the Steel Producer Company (SP) and the
Routing Code. This is only code in the system linked to the SP
Corporation. Every other code is either keyed to the SP plant or the
OP.
SCREEN OPTIONS
Search for a Rail Routing: The search should be done first. To retrieve data for a Rail
Routing, type in the code. Click the "Search" button. If
it exists, the system will display the Routing
Description. If the code is not in the system, a message will
display at the top. If the code is found, the "Update" and "Delete"
buttons are now available at the bottom of the screen.
Modify a Rail Routing: If
the Routing is found as a result of the search, the Routing
Description text can be changed by overwriting the original data. If the OP user makes a
mistake or gets distracted while changing the name, click
the "Reset" button. This restores the description to
the original value. Once entered, the data is saved by clicking the
"Update" button. A confirmation message should be displayed at the top.
Delete a Rail Routing: If the Routing
is found as a result of the search, it may be deleted by clicking the
"Delete" button. A confirmation box is displayed to prevent unwanted
deletes. A confirmation message should be displayed at the top.
Create a New Rail Routing: To create
a new Rail Routing, enter the code and description text.
Click the "Create" button to save. A confirmation message
should appear at the top. Note: Rail Routings should be
setup with the advice of the SP.
