ROCHESTER, Pa., Sept. 22, 2003-
Pittsburgh Logistics Systems Inc. (PLS) today announced it has formed
a cooperative alliance with Northrop Grumman Information Technology to develop
supply chain solutions for the metals industry. The focus of the initiative
is to enhance Northrop Grumman Mission System's EDITS, Steel Partner and
OpenTrac metals supply chain tools by developing a seamless interface
to the logistics managements services and technology of PLS.
Solutions developed through this alliance will help customers in the
metals industry track the flow of inventory through outside processors,
fulfill customer orders and meet delivery requirements through one information
system. We are very excited about the opportunity to develop this type
of technology with "a partner like Northrop Grumman," commented Gregg
A. Troian, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pittsburgh Logistics
Systems. "The tools that will be created will enhance visibility, control
and the physical delivery of material for the many metals suppliers that
use outside processors, third-party warehouses or other supply chain intermediaries."
"We have been searching for a logistics partner to enhance the value
of our products and services and found Pittsburgh Logistics Systems, a
premier logistics provider in the metals industry," said Gary Marzec,
Director of Industrial Operations for Northrop Grumman Mission Systems.
"Our partnership complements a Web-based design, which is ideal for metal
companies striving to substantially reduce costs, increase productivity
and improve service value to their customers."
